The claim that Balochistan in March 1948
was annexed to Pakistan forcibly can be discarded as Khan of Kalat gifted gold
to Pakistan as, it is said, he weighted Jinnah with gold. If in 1973, around 15,000
Mari tribesmen were killed, allegedly by army, it was under the governorship of
no other than Nawab Akbar Bugti, whose murder during the Musharraf regime has fueled
the ongoing violence in the province. The BRA led by Brahamdagh who is said to
be in Switzerland, has this murder as the cause of its formation.
In 1970 when Attaullah Mengal and Ghaus
Bukhsh Bazinjo became Chief Minister and Governor respectively, Nawab Bugti left
Pakistan in protest. On his return from London Bugti demanded dismissal of the
NAP government in a public gathering at Mochi Derwaza Lahore, but later he took
oath as governor of Balochistan. It is undeniable that the people of
Balochistan have long been deprived. Only a bunch of people has always been in
power and the discontinuation of democratic process has resulted in immaturity
at all levels. But this small but powerful group doesn’t belong to masses.
Pakistan soon after its creation faced
numerous problems. It wasn’t recognized by its neighboring countries which did
not wish to see us flourish. It is not only Pakistan where certain ethnicities
complain of deprivation, the issue in fact is same to most of the third world
countries including the fast growing world economy, India. In order to make the
system run smoothly we need to create favorable environment for political and
democratic processes. Only then shall we attain the maturity to elect an
eligible leadership.
Two main groups namely BRA and BLA are
fighting in Balochistan. The BRA men under Brahmdagh are launching attacks from
the mountains while the pictures show them drinking ‘mineral water’. Hairbiyar
Mari on the other hand leads BLA. Their claim that they were not allowed to
work for the province seems baseless as they have never been stopped from
building schools or infrastructure. The so called freedom leaders have trapped
the innocent and naïve youth who are dying for their personal gains. As a
result of this misled movement it has become hard to find even a hairdresser in
the province as the poor laborers are being targeted as well.
One has never witnessed even a single
incident in the Baloch history in which women were targeted. But the BLUF of Dr
Allah Nazar is reportedly doing so. The question in how come a common man can
even imagine fighting the sixth biggest army of the world? That clearly
indicates the assistance from our enemies to these insurgents. But I feel pain for the trapped youth dying
for no reason and not valuing their precious lives. A vast majority doesn’t
want insurgency but development, schools, infrastructure and betterment in
their lives. People are sensible enough to know that separation from Pakistan
would give way to an endless civil war. There will be war lords like
Afghanistan. People are aware of greedy eyes of international powers on our
resources, strategically important warm waters and sea ports.
American journalist Slag Harrison writes
that Russia and Afghanistan want to involve Baloch people in war to get access
to warm waters. Baloch fighters are equipped with latest Russian arms. By the way
the State Department has assigned him the tast to write book on Balochistan.
Why would Canada establish a Research Institute on Balochistan? This highlights
the strategic importance of this land of minerals and natural resources. The
insurgents misled youth by telling that Balochistan will be one of the richest
states if its natural resources be utilized like Arab states. But the plight of
Arab states having all the resources and treasures of world is very much
evident today that those who do not serve the interests of the West will be
destined to perish. All Arab states are virtually under siege.
I know many Baloch and other people from
Balochistan even from remote areas of Balochistan who are working in known
organizations in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. They made their place by working
hard and now everybody respects them. We have to work hard. If rest of Pakistan
was not aware of our situation we ourselves are responsible. We have to work
hard to create awareness about us. We have the most beautiful culture and we
make people love it as I have seen some students of Islamabad and Lahore
wearing Baloch dresses.
Coming to forced disappearances and dead
bodies’ issue; people of Balochistan get attacked and killed as and when they
refuse to cooperate with militants. Consequently many have been forced to leave
for Afghanistan and other areas. Some are killed in tribal disputes. Some
pictures are in one’s possession showing how insurgents brutally killed army
and FC men. In a very systematic way not only India but also the International
Human Rights Organizations and Commissions have taken the sole responsibility
of enlightening the world about Balochistan. Many cases of missing persons are
fabricated. Take Zarina Mari’s case for instance. How can there be no photo of her though she
was a government employee?
Now ‘armed organizations’ allegedly being
backed by intelligence agencies. This scribe is also alleged for running an organization
with the support of agencies, but if it is true, then why I am looking to
Pakistan’s courts to provide us justice in the murder case of my 14-year old
beloved son at the hands BLUF? Why the murderers are roaming scot free? As a
tribal society with gun part of its culture, we need to defend ourselves. My son
Nawabzada Hakmal used to wear Pakistani flag-cap, we celebrated 14th August
every year as Independence Day. Many like me have lost their sons and brothers
only because they love Pakistan. The miscreants threaten to teach them a lesson.
But I must tell my readers that we the people of Balochistan are now tired of bloodshed.
They are Pakistan loving and do not want to be separated. It is my request to
all countrymen to join their hands together against this sinister design of the
enemy and fight for the cause of Balochistan, keeping the unity of the country
intact. We all are patriotic Baloch people; you just make sure that Balochistan
will always be a part of Pakistan no matter what the cost may be.
Nawabzada
Mir Siraj Khan Raisani
