Education is Everything

I see people somehow complaining that what Pakistan gave us? Didn’t Pakistan gave us largest salt mine, gold mine, coal and copper reserves, large rivers, strategic importance and above all an independent land to live. One should rather think that, are we giving best human resource to our country to make good use of these resources? Look at Balochistan a province blessed with unlimited assets but what is happening there; we have to hire foreign companies for the exploration of those reserves. Their local people keep on arguing that they will handle the developmental projects by themselves as they don’t get enough shares from their own assets. Do they have enough skilled local people to run such projects? Not only their local people but let’s talk about all, if we had good human resources we would not have given such projects to foreign companies.
Only gold, copper, salt and coal reserves cannot determine the surety of your development__ look at Japan which is one third of Pakistan in size with no salt, gold, copper reserves but yes they have 99% literacy rate. Look at Singapore they don’t have Asia’s largest dam but splendid literacy rate and best human resource. Pakistan gave us large rivers but did we give dams to our country, why we are facing the issue of electricity and agriculture. Isn’t all this is due to our human resource flaws?
Without education, there is no prosperity. In a developing country, education is essential in order to achieve a stronger economy. How a country can have good industries if most of its people are uneducated and don’t know that how to get maximum benefit from the latest technology.
A country needs a good educational system to produce its own doctors, lawyers, engineers, and professors. By not importing professionals, the country will ultimately keep the money in its economy. For example, a foreign engineer working for a Pakistan mining company contributes more to its own economy than he or she does to the Pakistan economy.
People having reasonable literacy and skills tends to contribute more positively for their country. Due to the tangible contributions in changing the mindset of nations, education has become an important part of the development policy in every country. We as a nation seriously need to ponder on this subject.
