Why call them dead?

The news report of 23 soldiers ‘killed’ in the ongoing Tirah operation may not be true as a large section of media did not report it, but true or untrue, the point to be raised is why we call them ‘killed’ and not ‘martyred’. This happens almost every day. It hurts. It insults. Ask the father or mother, son or daughter, brother or sister or wife of a martyr, would they not feel hurt when you do not honour them with the sacred word of Shahadat? That means as if we disown a war with the terrorists who, with the enemy at their back, are playing havoc with the lives and peace of our people? That means as if we do not recommend the sons of soil going to the fronts of war and fight till the last drop of their blood for the motherland? That means as if we do not honour their supreme sacrifice in befitting manner? On the other hand enemy is doing it so. Why are we so cruel? Why are we so ignorant? On one hand nation is at war. More than any regular war we have suffered more than 50,000 casualties. Still our behaviours, our attitude and our media do not show that we recognize this threat as ours and we have to fight it out together. Those who miss to honour their sons and daughters who have pledged to defend every inch of the motherland are destined to ruination. God forbid.
